Rødhette

Let's see, it is my turn so I will spin the roulette. It stopped on 4 which means that I can move my counter, the hunter, 4 squares. I must get closer to the wolf. Since Little Red Riding Hood moved to the bridge I guess the wolf will head over there as well. And so will I...

More info

This game is based on the Grimm fairy tale featuring Little Red Riding Hood. (Rødhette is the Norwegian name of Little Red Riding Hood). Each player picks a character, which, unlike most other childrens games, have different goals: Little Red Riding Hood must get to grandmas house without being caught by the wolf. The wolf must try and catch Little Red Riding Hood and at the same time wach out for the hunter. The hunter wins the game if he manage to shoot the wolf.

The game board shows the valley and forest where the fairy tale is set and is made up of 16x16 squares. The playing pieces, which are all made of wood, is placed on the game board like this: The houses are placed in a corner each. The three trees are placed on three squares attached to each other but not closer to any house than 8 squares. The bush are to be placed anywhere on the game board and the bridge is placed anywhere along the river. The red playing piece shows Little Red Riding Hood and is to be placed in front of the red house. The hunter (green) is placed in front of the green house and the wolf (brown) is placed in a square in front of the forest. Each player takes the 8 event cards for his character, shuffles them and places them face down in a pile in front of him. You are now ready to start the game. Play starts with Little Red Riding Hood and continues with the wolf and then the hunter.

Gameplay

When it is a players turn he takes the roulette and spins it. If it shows a number the player moves his piece the same number of sqaures. You can move horizontal or vertical, but not diagonal. You may not move to the same square twice in the same turn.

If the roulette shows a C the player draws the top card in the pile in front of him and follows the instructions. The card may give the player one or more moves, move the player to a special square or let the player miss a turn. Examples of event cards:

  • Little Red Riding Hood stops to pick flowers. Miss one turn
  • The hunter is running. Spin the roulette twice and move your playing piece
  • The wolf hides from the the hunter. Move directly to one of the squares in front of the bush to find a hiding place

Winning the game

The players have different winning conditions:
  • Little Red Riding Hood wins if she gets to grandmas house without being caught by the wolf
  • The wolf wins if he manage to capture Little Red Riding Hood before she reaches grandmas house. The player does this by landing the wolf on the same square as Little Red Riding Hood stands on
  • The hunter wins if he shoots the wolf before Little Red Riding Hood gets to grandmas house and before the wolf captures her. The hunter shoots the wolf when he lands on the same square as the wolf is on

Two players?

If you are playing this game with only two players leave out the hunter. The hunters house or playing piece is not placed on the board. Except for this all of the above rules apply.

Det var mange fine spill her, men hvor skal jeg kjøpe dem? Det hadde vært bra hvis dere hadde linker til utgiverne av de ulike spillene, slik at man kunne kjøpe dem med det samme.
