Pictionary

Arves turn to draw. Hmm, a circle, what's that supposed to be? An egg? A wheel? No, not a wheel, I think it's supposed to be an egg. An omelette? Arve looks at me in despair and points at the egg. Well, draw something better so I can figure out what you are trying to draw!

More info

In Pictionary you'll have to draw different words so good that your team mates understands what you are trying to draw. You should also be good at guessing what the other players are drawing. There are five categories of words:
  • Persons/places/animals (names are included)
  • Objects (things to touch or to see)
  • Events/actions (things that can be done)
  • Difficult (challenging words)
  • All players (This can be all kind of words)

Pictionary is being played by two to four teams. Each team gets a playing piece that is placed on the start square on the game board. There are a total of 56 squares on the game board and each square is marked with one of the five categories. When it is a teams turn they pick one on the team to be the picturist, who is the one drawing. The picturist picks up the top cards and looks at it. On the card there are written five words, one of each category. The picturist is going to draw the word of the same category as the square as which their playing piece is standing on. While he draws the other players starts guessing on what word it could be. The picturist can only express himself with pen and paper. He may not draw numbers or letters, nor speak or use gestures. If the team manage to guess the correct word before the time is up they get to roll the die and move their playing piece. If they don't find the correct word they must stay and it is the next teams turn.

Winning the game

The first team to guess the correct word when their playing piece is on the last square wins the game.

"All players"

Pictionary is a very fun game. It works in the same way as "Taushet Er Gull" og "Fantasi". What makes Pictionary a better buy than the other two is that it has more cards and that the difficult level on the words are where they should be. (Fantasi is too easy and Taushet Er Gull is too hard). Another great thing about Pictionary is the category "All players". When a team is on a square marked with "All players" the picturist on all the teams get to see word and try to draw it - on the same time. All the teams are trying to guess the word and the team who guesses it first gets to roll the die and move their playing piece. The stress factor are much higher when playing an "All players"-word. Not only do you have to guess the word before the time is up, you also need to do it before the other teams.

A good choice

Pictionary will cost you twice as much money as Fantasi, nevertheless I reccommend Pictionary - it is a better choice than Fantasi. Taushet Er Gull is not for sale anymore.

The game is awesome. We play as a family, men against women. There are 20 persons involved and we have a terrific time. The girls, women, usually win. Our dilemma, the timer is broken, and the rules do not state the time element. Could someone PLEASE tell me what the time per play is? I am pretty sure it is 3 minutes, but to be absolutely fair to the losing team (usually the guys), I want to be absolutely positive.
Jenelle:

I don't think it is possible to buy new cards - you must buy a new edition of the whole game. Regarding replacement parts you should contact Mattel's customer support on this web page: http://service.mattel.com/usor you could call them toll free:
In the US: 800-524-TOYS (800-524-8697)
In Canada: 800-665-6288

I have the same question as Eric. Do you need to roll the exact number to land on the last space, or if e.g. you are three away and you roll a four, can you proceed to the last space. Many egos depend on the correct answer ?
suzana:
I would like to buy tihs game.Does anyone know where can i buy it?Thanks
Carla:
the game is brill 10/10
BRETT BRILL:
I READ CARLA'S COMMENT THAT THE GAME IS BRILL. WHAT DID SHE MEAN?
Stancil:
Play the shockwave game "Inklink." Search for it on google, I don't the address. It's fun.
Allen:
Bret, I think she meant brilliant. Not Brill as in your last name. LOL
maria:
is thereanywaytochange therules to playwithout teams>?
Craig:
You don't have to roll the exact number to advance to the end - if you're 3 squares away, and roll a 6, you move as far as you can.Second Edition cards can presumably be bought on Ebay, or by using cards from Trivial Pursuit (for example). Also, Hasbro has released a 20th anniversary edition.
Joy:
I played Pictionary with some friends last night and during All Play, a team member from another team was watching OUR team draw the word. Is that fair? Do the members have to stick to their own teams during All Play? What's the sense of having teams otherwise?! Please let me know! Thanks!
Ali plon:
this game is so awesome at every gathering we play it all day long
Trixi:
Does the exact word need to be guessed or can it be a derivative of the word. For example: packing, packed, for pack; computing for compute; chop for chopping. Thank you.
Dorothy:
