Mad Magazine Card Game

Uno was published in the early 70's and became a real huge sales success. This led to a lot of similair card games being published.

Mad Magazine Card Game is a Uno/Crazy Eights variant based on the magazine. The cards are dealt into four suits and numbers 1-6. There are also some special cards. Alfred E. Neuman is pictured on all the cvards, in various unfortunate situations. There are also some white special action cards that can be played regardless of suit.

The basic game works like standard Crazy Eights: When it is a players turn he plays a card of the same suit or number. He can also play the special card that follow suit:

• Give someone two cards: Give another player two of your cards
• Which way? Choose the direction of play
• Draw 1 you varmints! The other player must draw one card each

You can also play one of the white special action cards. These can be played regardless of suit:

• Wild: Change suit
• Wild & wooly: Change suit and chose another player to draw three cards
• Exchange your hand with anyone: Chose a player who must trade all his cards for yours
• What me worry? You worry!: A self defense card. If someone plays a card on you, for instance a Wild & wooly card. If you play the self defense card, the other player must draw three cards instead of you
• Joker: This card is used to end the game. Can only be played when you have three or less cards on hand

Winning the game

The first player to get rid of all his cards, wins. If the game is ended with the Joker card, all players count their hand and whoever has the lowest score wins.

A fun game

Mad is a fun game, much better than the Mad Magazine boardgame. There are not much strategy or tactics, but some lighthearted fun is what we all need sometimes. Rating: 4 of 6 points.

A cool variation. The deck comes with 2 white cards. Play with them. The person who plays the 1st white card can change places (scores, location,etc) with another. The person who gets caught with the 2nd white card will get a 50 point penalty ... unless they play it as the last card and win the hand.

My mum bought me this cardgame for my birtday after she bought one for a friend of mine. I really liked it so I needed to have it. It's a long time ago since then (more than 5 years at least). But now I still play the game with my bf, he really likes it and want to buy the game himself but it's not sold anymore. Btw I own a dutch version of the game, it's weird to read the names of the card in different languages :p
