Hatt Over Hatt

It's looking bad for Peter. He's only got one hat left and has to start the final round. I've got three and if I manage to move this tower of hats home I'll free two more. Got to watch out for Sissel though, she's got a hat standing on her free zone - ready to attack...

More info

In Hatt Over Hatt (Eng.: Hat Over Hat) each player receives six hats that he places in his home zone in one of corners of the game board. The goal is to capture the other players hats. This is done by moving one of your hats on a space already occupied by another player. You put your hat on top and from now you move around with both hats. But you've got to watch out, because another player might move one of his hats on top of yours and then he'll control them all.

There are two ways to get your hats back. One way is to bring a tower of hats back to your home zone. The tower is then disassembled and any hats of your color that was in this tower is again free to use. The other players hats are imprisoned in your home zone.

The other way is that if you only have one hat left you might take "the round". Once a player states that he wants to take "the round" he has to go through the outermost track of the game board without being captured. If he manages this he gets all his hats back.

Winning the game

When a player loses all his hats he's out of the game. The player who's left when all the others are out, wins.

History

This is an old game that most Norwegians have played. I don't know when it was first published, but mine is from the 70's. Hatt Over Hatt is still being published.
